What is examined as part of the audit?

Scope; determined according to the type of equipment, capacity, drive system, operational movements, frequency of use and accessibility. The load-bearing structure and connections; ropes, chains, hooks and lifting attachments; brakes, controls, limiters, emergency stop mechanisms and other safety devices are examined in accordance with the equipment’s design.

Visual inspection, functional testing and any necessary experiments are carried out in accordance with the applicable inspection method. Points that cannot be inspected, site conditions affecting the test and any findings identified are reported in relation to the equipment’s identification details. Even equipment of the same type is assessed separately if it differs in capacity, construction or method of use.
